The International Trade Association South Australia Inc (ITASA) was established in 2002 by the amalgamation of: Importers Association of South Australia Inc - est. 1971, South Australian Exporters Association Inc - est. 1968, South Australian Shipping User Group - est. 1981 as a committee of the then Chamber of Commerce and Industry SA (now Business SA). ITASA is the largest independent trade body in South Australia representing the State's most established and experienced exporters and importers. The Association is unique for a number of reasons:

It has the largest number of corporate members of any trade focussed association in South Australia Its operations are supported by membership subscriptions not government funds, preserving its independence as an industry body It is the only trade focussed association in SA that embraces both importers and exporters rather than restricting membership to exporters It is the only trade focussed association in SA that has a lobbying function It is the only private organisation (as opposed to government) which maintains an internationally focused website directory of SA companies products and services It has broad representation across all industry sectors It publishes the only hard copy directory showcasing South Australian companies that are actively doing business
